Frank Ligthart was born in Wijchen, the Netherlands, in 1971. Today he lives in Antwerp, Belgium. He studied product development at the Henry Vandevelde Institute at the Antwerp Academy in Belgium and industrial design at the Technical University of Delft. Ligthart designed train sets for the Dutch railways and later worked as a freelance furniture designer. Since 2001 he has worked for top brands such as DEDON, Brown Jordan, Grange, Garpa and Lambert. His outstanding work has received several prestigious design awards, such as the Design Plus Award (2003), the Red Dot Design Award (2006), and the BIDA Award for Excellent Design (2006)
